Amazing Hang-Time Video!

I thought this video merited airtime on our site simply for its unbelievable nature. It goes without saying that what you’re about to see is INCREDIBLY dangerous. They fact that he survived without serious injury, let alone the fact that it happened, is truly phenomenal. Until you’ve actually maneuvered one of these kites yourself, you have no idea how much power they have (that’s what makes kiting so much fun!).

For the record, Erik Eck holds the hang time record for 39 seconds in this video, as well as the highest flight that I know of, over 150 feet.

Enjoy and be amazed!

Black Pond - Zach Up For First Time!

For labor day a bunch of us headed out to Black Pond (after I had a fantastic Hobbie Cat run in the Chaumont Bay!). The winds were on-shore directly out of the west 15-20 knots, but that didn’t stop us from putting up both an inflatable 11m Naish and an 8m ram air.

The highlight of the day was seeing 12 year old Zach Yelle get up on plane for the first time ever…and then again…and then again! We have some video of his three well fought attempts that we’ll be posting soon. He definitely has caught the bug now!

Thanks for riding with us for today! Later!

Black Pond & Sylvan Beach

On Monday I was able to get two beaches on two different lakes in one day! Whoever says kitesurfing can’t be done in upstate NY has never attempted. And boy are they missing something.

In the morning, me and the little clan headed down to Black Pond Beach on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario in Ellisburg, NY. Early 10 knot winds were a little finicky and gusty, but enough to play around with.

In the afternoon we drove south to meet some friends on Oneida Lake and hit Sylvan Beach. At nearly 20 knots, the winds were steady but at the worst possible angle, almost completely on-shore. Another rider who I didn’t get to meet was riping up the coast for a good hour.

Catch ya’ later!
